To empower individuals affected by mental health and substance disorders, we create supportive environments that foster recovery, promote resilience, and restore hope.
We envision a community free from stigma, where recovery is celebrated, prevention is prioritized, and every person is treated with dignity and respect.
We believe that every individual has the right to dignity, healing, and hope. Grounded in compassion, respect, and accountability. We honor each person’s unique journey by fostering a nonjudgmental environment.
Ashley Bates, a former Cass County Sheriff's Deputy, played a crucial role in starting the CSU program at the Jail. Since her departure in 2023, she has focused on advocacy helping individuals in the community dealing with mental health and substance disorders. Bates' compassion for those in need is evident through her hands-on approach, ensuring that people in the community are successful in overcoming their challenges.
The name Blame Bates originated when Bates was reviewing a housing document with a client, emphasizing that no visitors would be allowed for six months unless approved, as bad visitors can disrupt everything you have accomplished. This approach reflects Bates' strong advocacy for maintaining a healthy living environment, which is crucial for both mental health support and recovery from substance disorders. They were advised to say BLAME BATES and provide her card, as Bates can assist them just as she has helped you. You can certainly Blame Bates for your successes or failures if you wish. She is here to help and connect you with the community resources you need!
